WHO SHOULD DECIDE TAXI FARES “DEMAND AND SUPPLY" OR GOVERNMENT
As we all
know that now-a-days taxi and cabs are very important entity for us or more
over they become a part of our life.
But who is deciding
the fares of taxi or who determine the fares. Till now the government of India deciding
the fares of taxi but according to MERU’s ex CEO (Siddarth Pawha) fares should
be decided according to demand and supply. Because this is the industry who is
improving in so many factors and moving significantly ahead of regulation.
We can take
example of Maharashtra where taxi business is more famous as compare to any
other state of India and they are trying to improve their technology and trying
to improve those services which they deliver. So they can deliver best of
services.
Government
was ignoring the on field factors which “Demand and Supply” will include. One more very big problem is surge price. Surge
price means when you have to pay more than the expected price, sometimes 3 or 4
times more than the expected because of some reasons like unfavourable weather,
heavy traffic, and high demand of cabs e.t.c. But ex CEO of MERU thinks this is
not a good idea for India. Because of surges no taxi business able to optimise
initially.
So, finally
we can say commission consumer behaviour depend on “Demand & Supply”. So,
demand and supply should be deciding factors for the fares of taxi and cabs
businesses.
