Price discrimination
characteristics of demand that allow the same product to sold at various price which is not related to cost of supply is called price discrimination. so yes same product can be sold on different prices. so here's some types of price discrimination.
Perfect price discrimination
In this type of discrimination consumer have to pay different price of every unit that he/ she consumes of that product. It help firms to maximize consumer surplus as much as they can because in this they(firms) are permit to charge maximum possible price for every unit. for example,In an auction price of product goes high till last bidder won that deal so in that company want that highest bid they should get of there product. In auction firm maximize there surplus from every unit of product.
Segment based price discrimination
In this type particular market is targeted for the price just like age based discount, social/economic reservation. for example when we book flight tickets online we get a option of student fare so here price will different for students. And railways also give concession to senior citizens of country in fare.
Price discrimination by self selection
In this type of discrimination price differ on own selection of product by customer. Just like cashback we get on online shopping that change the price of products and we get coupons on both online and offline shopping so these comes under this type. For example big bazaar give sale on particular day and provide coupons on that also that make price of product different in comparison to shops.
